ABICALÇADOS, the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association, the largest entity that brings together the Brazilian manufacturing sector, announced that starting in 2023 it will hold its own fair, in two annual editions, one for each season.
The decision arose as a result of the consultation made to footwear buyers traders and industrialists about physical fairs in the post-pandemic period, where a weakening of national events was appreciated.
“Among the results of the survey, there is the need to optimize investments, with the realization of only two -and not four fairs at the national level- per year, in accordance with international market practices, in which the exhibitions are coordinated by the representative entity of the sector”, said ABICALÇADOS.
To do this, the industrial entity brought together five promoters of fairs -national and international- in mid-March 2022 to report on the project and invite them to present a proposal to organize and promote the events together, with the coordination of ABICALÇADOS.
Five organizations attended the meeting at the association's headquarters: FENAC from Novo Hamburgo/RS; FRANCAL from São Paulo and MERKATOR, organizer of the fair in Gramado/RS, plus MILANO FAIR from Italy and NÜRNBERGMESSE from Germany. COUROMODA was absent. All companies have 30 days to present their proposals, from the meeting held.
