Footwear exports increased

​In 2020, exports of Chilean footwear were 531,856 pairs, which translated into an increase of 75% compared to the previous year. In terms of value, the businesses were positioned at US $ 9 million, a positive variation of 85%. The average price per pair grew 5.7% and reached US $ 17.05.

The United States was the main destination country, US $ 2.4 million and a share of 27.2% of the total value exported. Then, sales to Peru were US $ 1.9 million and a portion of 21.4%; while Switzerland represented 18.3%, for US $ 1.6 million.

Sectors linked to the commercialization of footwear in Chile, indicate that the increases in exports are due to the re-exports of imported products from other origins. Clarifying that the local industry has minimal production, and domestic consumption is very low.
