Footwear: Imports contracted in retail
As reported by the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (CNC), the Volume Index of imported FOOTWEAR showed a 56.2% decrease in the first quarter of 2023, followed by -40.3% in the second.
In addition, the Unit Value Index increased by 22.3% and 13.5% in the respective first two quarters of the year, according to figures provided by the CNC's Department of Studies and the Quant Research consultancy, based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the National Customs Service.
The Retail Imports Index report also determined that China had a 47.7% share of the footwear entering the country in the second quarter, followed by Vietnam with 21.7% and Indonesia with 12.2%.
