The footwear brand HUSH PUPPIES announced the cessation of activities at its manufacturing plant in the town of La Florida, thus ceasing 27 operators. The traditional “Navajo” model characteristic of the factory will be manufactured and imported from Asia.
The establishment remained active for 35 years, reaching in 2018 to produce one million pairs of the mentioned brand. At its best production moment, it had a plant of 500 workers, reported by chilean media.
From FORUS, the company that distributes and markets HUSH PUPPIES in Chile and the region, they reported that part of the dismissed personnel will be relocated to the Maipú distribution center.
The situation is the continuity of a process of disappearance of important Chilean factories, due to increasing imports.
