Noticeable drop in footwear imports
The Chamber of Industrialists of Leather, Footwear and Related - Union Federation (FEDECCAL) reported that footwear imports in 2020 were 71.6 million pairs, worth US $ 594.3 million. This meant negative variations of 27.9% and 33.3% respectively, in relation to 2019. The average price per pair was US $ 8.30, with a fall of 7.4%.
The main supplier of footwear in 2020 was China, with a value of US $ 365 million and a share of 61.4% of the total entered. Vietnam followed, with US $ 110 million and 18.5%; and Indonesia, with US $ 31.8 million and representing 5.3%.
The slowdown was also recorded in the number of importing companies, which were 511 and recorded a contraction of 23.6%. The countries fell 15.3%, reaching a total of 66.
