Retail footwear imports increased
In 2022, the Retail Import Volume Index for the FOOTWEAR sector had an increase of 18.2%, compared to 2021. Disaggregated by quarters, the variations were 57.6%, followed by 40.6%, 11.5%, and a drop of 26% in the last trimester of the year.
As for the Unit Value Index, the sector recorded an increase of 18.8% in the twelve months, with growth in each of the quarters: 11.7%, 9.7%, 19.5%, and 34.8%, as reported by the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (CNC).
The main footwear supplier was China, which represented 56.4% of the total imported. Vietnam had a share of 20.6%, while Indonesia supplied 7.3% and Brazil 4.2%, according to the Department of Studies of the CNC and the consultancy firm Quant Research.
