Retail imports on the rise

Imported footwear at the retail level had a growth of 57.6% in the first quarter of 2022, compared to the same interval of the previous year. In this sense, in the second quarter of the year, the sector increased by 40.6% annually, followed by 11.5% in the third quarter and accumulating in the first nine months of the year an increase of 35%.

Regarding unit value, FOOTWEAR showed an 11.7% increase in the first quarter, to which was added 9.7% in the second and 19.5% in the third quarter. Between January-September, the increase is 13.6%.

According to the Retail Import Index of the Department of Studies of the CNC and Quant Research consultancy firm, the main supplier of footwear was China, with 59.7%; while Vietnam accounted for 19.9% and Indonesia, 5.9%, corresponding to the third quarter of the year, reported CNC.
