The Department of Studies of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Chile (CNC), indicated that real retail sales of FOOTWEAR in the Metropolitan Region, were 34.3% lower in the first two months of 2021 and in relation to the same period of the previous year. Specifically, in January they fell 34.7% and in February, 34.1%.
In the Valparaiso Region, the contraction was 43.4% in the first two months, with retractions of 34.6% in January and 49.6% in February. In addition, CALZADO had a decrease of 37.3% in the Region of La Araucanía in the two-month period, with variations of -31.4% and -41.9% in January and February respectively. Finally, the Biobío Region recorded -56.3% in the cumulative figure for February, marked by -61.1% in January and -52.8% in February, CNC reported.
