ACICAM's vision on increases
The director of Economic Research and Projects of the Colombian Association of Footwear, Leather and their Manufactures Industrialists (ACICAM) -Willian Parrado-, affirmed that raw materials for manufacturing increased between 50% and 70%.
The increase in value was up to now absorbed by the manufacturers, but it must necessarily be passed on to the consumer. Among the affected materials are chemicals, various supplies, glues, and leather. Raw leather, which is exported approximately 60% of the total produced, due to the greater demand from Italy and China, has considerably increased its value, due to the limited supply, as reported.
