Decree regulating imports of footwear was extended

The 35% will also continue to be applied to products from countries without trade agreements.

The measure allows greater control over imports, especially those that enter with under-invoiced prices.

According to the official statement “at the request of ACICAM, the Colombian association of the leather, footwear and manufacture industry, the National Government issued Decree 1633 of December 14th, 2020, in which it extends the validity for 2 more years of the previous decree 2279 of December 16th, 2019”. For this reason, a 35% tariff is applied to imports of footwear from countries that do not have free trade agreements with Colombia, which declare prices below the thresholds. These are reference values according to the different types of footwear.

With this measure and together with Decree 436 of 2018, the prevention of technical smuggling that is carried out through the declaration of abnormally low and under-invoiced prices continues.

Any additional information, the entity informed its members that they can contact the ACICAM Sector Studies Coordinator, Willian Parrado at the email: willian.parrado@acicam.org
