After both countries re-established relations, expectations arose for trade between both markets. In this sense, in mid-November, the press reported on the gradual carrying out of certain exports by Colombian companies.
Specifically in Norte de Santander, they considered the interrelationship between countries beneficial. The opening of the border is of great importance, in order to reach various destinations in the Caribbean, as stated by the departmental president of the Colombian Association of Industrialists of Footwear, Leather and its Manufactures (ACICAM) -Guillermo Rangel-.
The leader stressed that trade must have clear rules, a job that could be carried out by the Venezuelan authorities, together with ProColombia and the Ministry of Commerce of his country.
