Footwear industry in the red
According to information provided by the Colombian Association of Footwear, Leather, and its Manufactured Goods Industrialists (ACICAM), national footwear production experienced an 8.3% decline from January to November 2023, while employment retracted by 3.3%, and sales decreased by 11.1%, compared to the same period in 2022.
Among the factors mentioned by the association, based on data from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), are rising prices, decreased orders, a high comparison base from 2022, inventory turnover, and reduced exports.
