Footwear prices could rise if anti-dumping measures are imposed on PVC
Germán González, president of the Colombian Association of Footwear, Leather and its Manufactured Goods Industrialists (ACICAM), stated that the price of footwear in the country could increase by 25% if the Ministry of Commerce issues a resolution on dumping practices against suppliers from China and the United States, which could benefit Mexichem, a national company that produces PVC.
The leader pointed out that the mentioned company is requesting an increase in prices between 40% and 45% for its raw materials, above international values, which would affect national footwear production by 70%.
The footwear lines most affected by the increases would be children's products and those for work and safety.
