In 2020, only 31 million pairs were produced

The Colombian Association of Footwear, Leather and Manufactures Industrialists (ACICAM) reported on the evolution of the FOOTWEAR sector during 2020.

In this sense, they detailed that legal production was 31 million pairs, while consumption reached 85.5 million pairs.

On the part of exports, the volume was 1.5 million pairs, worth US $ 17.7 million. In addition, 29.9 million imported pairs entered Colombia, totaling US $ 273.9 million, according to estimates by the entity based on figures from DANE and DIAN.

With these figures, industry experts calculated that the informal production of footwear in Colombia during 2020 was close to 24 million pairs.
