Shoemakers support FENALCO's request, with reservations
After FENALCO's request for the Colombian government to reduce tariffs on finished products and raw materials for one year, the footwear sector approved the proposal.
This was stated by the president of the Corporation of Footwear and Similar Industrialists of Norte de Santander (CORPOINCAL) -Olimpo Peñuela-, who added that the request would mitigate the value of raw materials, many of them imported.
In this sense, Peñuela pointed out that the increases reach 45%, a value with which the producers of Cúcuta have dealt.
However, CORPOINCAL questioned FENALCO's request regarding the reduction in the tariff on finished products, which would put local manufacturers at a competitive disadvantage compared to footwear from China.
