The creation of a Ministry of Fashion is being requested

The union that brings together footwear and leather entrepreneurs aims for the establishment of a Ministry of Fashion. This proposal, resulting from various suggestions from members and work sessions, would include the entire textile industry. The goal is to strengthen the sector and formulate strategies for actions and growth.

The initiative comes in an unfavorable context for the industry, where uncontrolled smuggling from India and China, rising supplies costs, and labor instability prevail. This last point leads to a lack of profitability in the sector, discouraging young people from training.

The national president of the sector, Wilson Gamboa, added that there are only eight months of activity due to low demand.
