Despite the pandemic, Vietnam continues to grow

For its greater competitiveness, the Vietnamese footwear industry is in a period of sustained growth.
The footwear and leather goods production sector is in full recovery, after the Asian country managed to control the impact of the pandemic, for which it has once again received significant investments from abroad.

The Association of Leather, Footwear and Leather Goods of Vietnam -LEFASO- reported that until September 2020 the collection for exports of clothing and sports shoes increased 50% compared to the same period of 2019, according to data provided by customs.

The ability to contain the pandemic allowed to reopen factories quickly and respond immediately to requests, particularly from international brands. Despite the fact that purchases from Europe decreased 27% and from the United States 21%.

Vietnam currently has 1,700 factories of footwear and leather goods, with an annual output of 1,100 million pairs of shoes and more than 400 million wallets, purses and backpacks.
