Renewed expectations in the sector

​Faced with the beginning of a new political and economic period, under the leadership of the newly elected president Guillermo Lasso, the footwear sector, which has been strongly affected by the pandemic and the generalized crisis, renews its hopes in the face of the change of leadership.

In this regard, CALTU, the National Footwear Chamber, headed by its president Lilia Villavicencio, has made available to the new authorities a proposal on the needs and aspirations of the sector, which seeks to reactivate itself.

In its statements, the industrial entity says it is willing to collaborate with the government, to start up 3,700 productive units that generate 118,000 jobs, which in recent times due to the health situation, were reduced to the bare minimum.
