The footwear sector is being protected in light of the agreement with China
After technical negotiations between China and Ecuador, both countries will sign a trade agreement. Over ten months of dialogue, parameters for trade openness and sensitive sectors that will be protected have been established, according to local press reports.
In this regard, the Ecuadorian footwear industry proposed various items considered sensitive, which were taken into account by the Negotiating Team and will benefit from protection, as detailed by Lilia Villavicencio, former executive director of the National Chamber of Footwear (CALTU) and current prefect of the Tungurahua province.
