Footwear exports decreased
In the report "Foreign Trade in the French Leather Industry 2020", carried out by the National Leather Council, it is indicated that the exports of shoes and other footwear in 2020 were 108.5 million pairs, worth € 3.4 billion, 12% less than the previous year.
Leather footwear represented 48% of what was sold abroad; followed by textile footwear and others, with 33%; while the synthetic represented 18%.
The main destination country for footwear and slippers was Italy, which had a negative variation of 11% compared to 2019 and in relation to value. Germany ranked second, unchanged; and the United Kingdom was third, with a drop of 24%.
