Footwear imports: 16% less in 2020
The entry of footwear to France in 2020 was 401.3 million pairs, which translated into 16% less compared to 2019. For its part, the value of imported footwear was 12% lower, reaching € 6 billion, according to the report "Foreign Trade in the French Leather Industry 2020".
Leather footwear had the largest share in imports, which was 44% of the total, while textile footwear and others accounted for 33%, and synthetic footwear, 21%.
China was the main supplier of footwear and slippers according to value, a country that decreased by 14% compared to 2019. It was followed by Italy, with a fall of 16%, and Vietnam, with -6%, reported the National Leather Council.
