The report provided by Confindustria Moda Research Center to ASSOCALZATURIFICI -Italian Association of Footwear Manufacturers- determined that, in the first quarter of 2022, footwear exports reached 58.7 million pairs, for an amount of €3 billion. In relation to the same period of 2021, volume had an 11.7% increase, and value 21.4%.
In the European Union, exports grew by 9% and 18% in quantity and turnover, respectively; while the non-community markets had positive variations of 18% in pairs and 25% in euros, reported the entity that brings together footwear manufacturers.
“Consolidation of the recovery that began in 2021 is overshadowed by the clouds on the horizon. The effects of the Russia/Ukraine conflict, the steep rise in energy costs and the failure of raw materials price increases to slow down, are halting recovery”, said the president of the association -Siro Badon-.
