Footwear exports continue to decline
The president of the Italian footwear manufacturers association (ASSOCALZATURIFICI), Giovanna Ceolini, stated: "The slowdown that began in the second half of last year continued for the footwear industry at the beginning of 2024 and has now worsened, with a sharp reduction in orders and production activity."
Data provided by Confindustria Moda's Research Center indicates that Italian footwear exports saw a 10.3% decrease in volume and a 9.7% drop in value during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in the previous year.
During this period, 51.9 million pairs were exported, valued at € 3.17 billion. Destinations within the European Union experienced smaller declines compared to non-EU markets, according to ASSOCALZATURIFICI.
