Footwear production in general in the Italian industry was 2.3% lower in the first six months of 2019, under the quantity variable, according to the report of the Italian Footwear Industry -first half of 2019- for the association that brings together to shoe manufacturers -ASSOCALZATURIFICI-, which was elaborated by Confindustria Moda Research Center.
In turn, the volume of domestic consumption decreased 3.7%, where traditional retail sales points had a negative variation of around 16% in turnover and 11% in volume, while online channels grew 17.3% and 10.3% respectively.
In footwear typology, sales of the classics for women and men were 8.3% and 9.5% lower in volume. On the other hand, sneakers and sports shoes showed a 2.9% increase in turnover and 0.8% in volume, as ASSOCALZATURIFICI reported.
