Footwear production and sales fell
Siro Badon, president of the entity that brings together Italian footwear manufacturers -ASSOCALZATURIFICI- gave details of the results of the sector in the first quarter of 2021. In this sense, he affirmed that production had a 6.4% retraction compared to the same period of last year, and close to 30% less in relation to the pre-pandemic period, that is, in the first third of 2019.
In addition, the leader assured that local consumption had a 3.5% decrease in volume and, in terms of spending, the drop was 6.9%. Compared to 2019, the negative variation exceeded 20%, World Footwear reported.
