Less footwear consumption
Sales in the domestic footwear market in 2020 registered a contraction of 26 million pairs compared to the previous year, according to what was reported by the Sita Ricerca Fashion Consumer Panel for ASSOCALZATURIFICI.
Siro Badon -president of the footwear entity- stated that consumption decreased by 17.4% in quantity and 23.1% in value. For its part, the report also revealed that, due to the low price of informal footwear or slippers used in the confinement, the average value was 6.8% lower per pair.
In terms of typology, classic female and male footwear had almost a 30% drop in volume, followed by 15% less in sports and children's footwear, reported ASSOCALZATURIFICI with data from Confindustria Moda Research Centre.
