Manufacturers request measurements

The footwear sector in Italy suffered during 2020 a decrease of 27.1% in production, which reached 130.5 million pairs; while turnover fell by 25.2%, totaling € 10,720 million, according to data provided by the Confindustria Moda Research Center for ASSOCALZATURIFICI.

In this context, the president of footwear manufacturers association -Siro Badon- declared that 30 thousand jobs are at risk, as a result of the restrictions imposed in the pandemic, which has had an impact on labor, economic and social levels.

In a statement, the leader asks the Italian institutions to regain competitiveness, through certain actions. Among them, he asks for promotion of fairs and internationalization for a sector characterized by exports; the implementation of a 30% tax credit on the value of inventories; and the elimination of 30% of the social security charges owed by the employer, with a national scope. In turn, he requires facilitation in entering and leaving the country, to promote trade.
