A new president of the Chamber of Footwear of Guanajuato was appointed

Alfredo Padilla Villalpando will lead CICEG, the entity with the highest representation of Mexican shoemakers.

In the framework of the Annual Ordinary Assembly of the Chamber of the Footwear Industry of the State of Guanajuato (CICEG), Alfredo Padilla Villalpando was elected as the institution's leader to preside over the 2020 Board of Directors.

This Assembly was held on July 30, in a responsible and orderly manner with the application of the measures established by the Health, Safety and Prevention Protocol for the Footwear and Leather Goods Industry, in the face of COVID 19.

At the same event, the 2019 Board of Directors and its outgoing president, Luis Gerardo González García, gave his annual activity report in which he recounted the results of his full period that began in March 2017 and ended on July 30.

First words

“We are going to work as a united production chain, with APIMEX (Suppliers) and CICUR (Tanners). We are going to strengthen collective intelligence, with links such as the recent signing of the Collaboration Agreement with the National Polytechnic Institute with which we will achieve the Center for Innovation and Integration of Advanced Technologies (CITTA)”, Padilla Villalpando expressed in his first message.

He pointed out that "We have difficult times, we are in the middle of a health and economic crisis, not only in our region, but in the whole world, but I am sure that with this great team of responsible and tenacious men and women, we will move forward".

Priority activities

The new president of CICEG mentioned some of the areas in which the 2020 Board of Directors will focus its work, among which are:

  • Promote and consolidate the domestic market.
  • Promote footwear and leather goods in Central and South America, as well as increase participation in the US and Canada.
  • Fight informality and illegality.
  • Fight for fair competition in the domestic market.

He recognized the work of the outgoing Board of Directors and its President Luis Gerardo González García, for their commitment and especially for the great achievement in Defense of the Industry, which culminated in the signing of the Decree to maintain tariffs until 2024, as well as their leadership in the development of the Industry Transformation Plan.

The new leader completed a Bachelor of Business Administration at La Salle Bajío University in the city of León, Gto. Mexico.
