Companies sanctioned for irregularities in IMMEX program

The government shut down maquiladoras that failed to comply with the export promotion program’s intent.

In coordination with state and federal authorities, the Ministry of Economy carried out a new phase of “Operation Cleanup” in Jalisco and Baja California, resulting in the cancellation of five companies registered under the IMMEX program (Manufacturing, Maquiladora, and Export Services Industry).

The companies were flagged for allegedly simulating manufacturing activities through shell companies, importing finished goods that were not intended for export, according to the Government of Mexico.

The operations, coordinated with the National Customs Agency of Mexico and the Financial Intelligence Unit, focused on companies that accumulated imports valued at 9 billion Mexican pesos (over US$ 440 million). The aim of this initiative is to defend the Mexican industry.
