Consequences of a year of pandemic

The executive president of CICEG -Alejandro Gómez Tamez- said that more than 15 thousand jobs have been lost in the Guanajuato footwear industry, one year after the start of the pandemic. In this sense, informality in the sector could increase unemployment rates, according to the considerations of footwear entrepreneurs.

On March 15th of last year the school cycle in the country was canceled, which resulted in a drop in sales of around 40 million pairs of children's and school shoes nationwide.

That is why the restart of school activities, announced for mid-May, is eagerly awaited by the footwear industry.
