Footwear imports contract
According to information provided by Mauricio Battaglia Velázquez, President of CICEG, the volume of imported shoes decreased by 4.3% year-on-year in the first ten months of 2023.
In this regard, the 102.9 million pairs entered the Mexican market meant a trend similar to the figures recorded in the same period of 2022.
Several Asian countries dominate footwear supply: China accounts for 56% of total imports, followed by Vietnam with a share of 21.4%, and Indonesia with 12.6%.
By the end of the year, projections from the sector suggested that footwear imports would decrease by 3 million pairs.
