Footwear manufacturers support tariff reform


The National Chamber of the Footwear Industry (CANAICAL) and the Chamber of the Footwear Industry of the State of Guanajuato (CICEG) welcomed and supported the decree that modifies tariff classifications of the General Import and Export Taxes Law (LIGIE), published in the Official Gazette of the Federation and in force as of January 1, 2026.
The regulation updates import tariffs for various industries, including footwear, textiles, leather goods and apparel. In total, it covers 1,463 tariff classifications from countries without trade agreements, according to the Mexican government.
