Government support for the footwear industry
A total of 46 million Mexican pesos (over US$ 2 million) will be contributed by the government of Guanajuato and the municipality of León to the footwear industry. Faced with the complex situation the sector has been experiencing since the health crisis, the aim of the aid is its reactivation.
Specifically, six million will come from the municipality's coffers, with the goal of securing jobs and providing training, as explained by Jorge Jiménez Lona, interim mayor of León.
The remaining 40 million will come from the state government, which will be used to purchase supplies for the sector, authorities reported.
