Higher value footwear, to sell to the US
For the U.S. market, footwear from Guanajuato is preferred over other options due to its quality, design, and the zero tariff resulting from the USMCA agreement. This was affirmed by Daniel Sepúlveda, the director of exportation at CICEG, who added that a pair currently averages between US$100 and US$120.
However, the significant cost of logistics prompts manufacturers to aim for sales ranging from US$ 150 to US$ 250 on average, thus expanding the profit margin. The goal is to achieve a higher price rather than a higher volume of production, which they may not be able to fulfill.
