Imports would benefit from the depreciation of the dollar
The importation of footwear could see an increase due to the exchange rate, with a weakened dollar. In this regard, a strong US currency acts as a "natural barrier" to the entry of products and helps limit imports, according to studies. This was confirmed by Alejandro Gómez Tamez, director of the Group of Advisors in Economics and Public Administration (GAEAP), in an interview with TV4.
The executive added that the exchange rate is the only restriction on imported footwear, in a context where 38% of the total is undervalued, with a value below that of the raw materials.
