Leather footwear prevailed in exports
The Chamber of the Footwear Industry of the State of Guanajuato (CICEG) reported that, of the 18.7 million pairs exported in 2020, the United States led the ranking as the main destination country, with a share of 86.6% in the total by volume. Far below, it was followed by Guatemala, which represented 2.9%; and El Salvador, with 2.4%.
Under the same variable, leather footwear predominated in foreign sales, representing 40% of shipments; then, synthetic footwear stood at 24.5%; waterproof footwear, at 17.7%, and textile footwear, at 9.7%, according to figures from the General Administration of Customs.
