The president of the Guanajuato Footwear Chamber, Luis Gerardo González, facing the entry into force since July of the T-MEC trade agreement, between his country and the United States , explained that there will be no major changes for the Mexican industry. Expectations are placed on how the commercial relationship between the United States, its main foreign market, and China will evolve. "If the United States reduces the purchase of Asian products, we will take advantage to increase our exports ”, he stated.
The manager focused on Asian footwear that can destabilize the national market. In this sense, he pointed out that in the face of the decrease in imports, China can adopt policies of price liquidation and "dumping" -sales less than cost- to recover markets.
