In the framework of the end of the year 2022, the main commercial chains registered a surplus of imported footwear inventories. Consequently, Mexican producers suffered order cancellations or postponements to the beginning of 2023, as detailed by the executive president of CICEG -Alejandro Gómez Tamez-.
The leader also stated that many manufacturers had produced or anticipated orders that later did not prosper.
Faced with this situation, the president of CONCAMIN (Confederation of Industrial Chambers of the United Mexican States) -José Abugaber Andonie- stated that national brands should receive more interest than imported ones. The leader considers that this is the request that the National Association of Self-Service and Department Stores (ANTAD) should make to its members.
