In 2023, the 2 million pairs of school shoes required in Nicaragua and Costa Rica will be produced by workshops that are part of the Nicaraguan Chamber of Leather, Footwear and Related Products (CANCUNIC), closing deals for some 700 million córdobas (approx. US$ 19 million).
The manufacturers have the necessary raw material, due to the association with a Mexican and a Salvadoran firm, suppliers of soles and leather, according to what was stated by the president of the entity -Alejandro Delgado-. Another factor that will allow this production to be reached is that importers will enter less Chinese footwear.
At the end of last November, some workshops already had orders from the local market and from Costa Rica in relation to school footwear, and there was an expectation to supply Honduras, media reported.
