In Trujillo, shoemakers seek alternative sectors
Vladimir de la Roca Morán, president of the Leather and Footwear Chamber of La Libertad, stated that around 2,000 footwear and leather industrialists are seeking employment in sectors such as mining and agriculture.
This figure represents 50% of the entrepreneurs in El Porvenir, who have been impacted by the economic crisis, the health emergency, and insecurity. Additionally, according to Marleny Carranza Lizárraga, a councilor of the municipality, 20% of those who remain active are formal micro and small enterprises (MYPES).
Vladimir de la Roca Morán further detailed that these manufacturers are operating at 10 to 30% of their installed capacity.
