Income of low-cost footwear impacts Peruvian industry

Footwear imported at a value less than US $ 5, would be one of the causes of a 26.7% retraction in the manufacture of Peruvian footwear, as registered by the Institute of Economic and Social Studies of the National Society of Industries (SNI) between January-August 2019.

Among 25 countries, Malaysia, Brazil, China and Indonesia are the main countries of origin of the products entered with an amount less than US $ 5, in the first nine months of the year, which have an impact in a volume greater than 7 thousand Mypes.

Given this situation, it would be necessary to take measures against the loss of jobs and unfair competition, through greater controls by the customs sector, reported from the SNI.
