Peru spent 52% less on Brazilian footwear

In the January-October 2020 period, compared to the same period of 2019.

Peru traditionally has been a receptive market for Brazilian products.

In the first ten months of 2020, Peru was the eighth buyer of Brazilian footwear, by turnover in dollars.

In the referred period, operations for US $ 15.1 million were carried out for 2.5 million pairs. 81% of this amount belonged to products made with synthetic materials.

If one takes into account, that in the same period of 2019, Peruvians disbursed US $ 31.6 million for 4.1 million pairs, the 2020 figures show a reduction of 52% in current billing.

It is important to note that a large part of these records are the result of the consequences of the pandemic in international trade.

However, from ABICALÇADOS -association of Brazilian footwear industries- they assured that according to the latest figures, there is a gradual increase in business.

In this regard, they pointed out that different virtual business rounds are scheduled in November and December with buyers from Peru and other Latin American countries.

"In this way, we seek to encourage and promote new sales to activate the sector, which has been badly hit in this global health crisis," they highlighted from the entity.
