Strong climate impact on sales

The high temperatures resulting from the Coastal El Niño Phenomenon are causing daily losses of 9 million soles to micro and small firms (mypes) in the footwear and textile sector, which intend to sell their products for the Autumn/Winter season.

The situation is directly affecting factories, where over 2,500 temporary employees have not been hired, a figure that doubles during normal times. Rodolfo Ojeda, president of the Small Business Union (COPE) of the CCL, stated that the reduced hiring of personnel is due to the decrease in sales due to climatic reasons, which has led to a lack of liquidity and created economic uncertainty.

The leader also explained that mypes will have to distribute their products to other locations, with significant discounts to recover part of their investments.
