The market in numbers
Footwear imports in Peru continue to grow and already reach 42% of the total offer.
In 2018, Peru imported 49.2 million pairs, that is to say 9% more than the previous year. The majority come from China (31.4 million) while Brazil appears as the third supplier with 4.9 million pairs for 38.9 million dollars in 2018.
According to industrial sources, the total consumption of footwear in Peru during 2018 reached 116 million pairs, 8% less than in 2017. The average per capita was 3.6 pairs per year, above the Latin American average (2,8%). In the children's segment, consumption was higher with 4.6 pairs.
For the industry of Brazil, Peru is a promising market, since from January to October 2019 it bought 4 million pairs of that origin, for about 30 million dollars.
