Companies committed to the environment
The Portuguese Shoes Green Pact was signed by 120 companies in the industry, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by half by 2030 and eliminate them completely by 2050, in line with the goals set by Europe and the United Nations.
"The footwear sector has the second-highest trade balance in the Portuguese economy and, among the world's leading players, it also has the second-highest average export price. This is the starting point for building a sustainable future", said Manuel Carlos, CEO of APPICAPS.
The group of signing companies represents 10,000 jobs and exports exceeding €1 billion, as reported by the media.
