The sector bets on the future

“In the last decade there has been a profound change in consumer preferences; electronic commerce imposed a reconfiguration of distribution channels; the international footwear market is undergoing transformation, with the participation of new players; the COVID-19 pandemic has changed habits and shaken the business structure”.

The statement is part of the Strategic Plan of the Footwear Cluster 2030 promoted by APICCAPS -Portuguese Footwear, Components and Leather Goods Manufacturers' Association-, in which 113 actions, 24 measures and four priorities were outlined for the footwear sector to position itself in the international market.

This initiative has been carried out for more than 40 years, a period of time in which results such as five times higher production, three times more employment and thirteen more sales abroad were obtained, according to reports from the association.
