The sector invests in modernization

Driven by the Technological Center, the Portuguese industry plans to invest €50 million to update production systems.

The footwear industry in Portugal is carrying out the FAIST project -Agile, Intelligent, Sustainable and Technological Factory- as part of the Strategic Plan of the Footwear Cluster 2030 and coordinated by the Portuguese Footwear Technological Centre (CTCP).

The aim is to incorporate sustainable materials and processes and innovative technologies into the sector, in an investment that will amount to €50 million, according to Portuguese Shoes.

The industry's goal is "to become an international benchmark and strengthen its exports, virtuously combining sophistication and creativity with productive efficiency, based on technological development and international value chain management, thus ensuring the future of a national, sustainable, and highly competitive production base".
