Post-pandemic requires regulations

Given the imminent arrival of definitive immunization against Covid-19 and the consequences suffered by the manufacturing industries of different countries, an immediate review of the situation is necessary in order to delineate a strategy for recovery and continuity. A task to be carried out jointly by the private sector and the government.

This is in order of the importance of these industries in the social and economic in each country, taking into account their real current state after the pandemic.

In the case of the footwear industry, one of the most affected globally, the largest productions concentrated in Asia had a faster recovery of activities than in other continents. In this sense, international footwear brands and corporations, customary exporters, have a normalized supply, while in other regions the productive apparatus has been seriously damaged.

This analysis, beyond the state of demand, shows the existence of a voluminous and highly competitive international supply in search of markets, and in this regard local industries and governments must implement precise foreign trade policies to preserve the conditions that allow the recovery processes of their own companies.

Regulation, control and selectivity measures in imports will be fundamental in this new stage.

Without ceasing to travel the irreversible path of globalization of trade, industries and governments must plan and define the necessary instruments to rescue these traditional sectors of the manufactures that have extraordinary potential in their own markets and abroad.
