New shoe labeling implemented

As of March 2020, a new footwear labeling system will enter into force. The measure tends to prevent footwear importation, manufacture and illegal traffic, increasing the collection of customs duties.

The system will work with a two-dimensional digital code that will allow the traceability of footwear, from its manufacture to its sale to the consumer.

In sources of the sector, it is estimated that the application of the new labeling will generate a 10% decrease in the footwear prices, due to the greater participation and volume of legal goods, while eliminating the illegal production market.
