Salvador Gómez -Secretary General of the Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries (FICE) and of the Footwear and Espadrille Industries Association of the Murcia Region (CALZIA)- highlighted challenges such as the rapid transformation of consumer habits, geopolitical tensions affecting exports, and the progress of sustainability and recycling regulations.
In an interview with Revista del Calzado, Gómez warned of rising costs -both labor and non-labor-,and stressed that the U.S. market is seen, outside of Europe, as one of the most promising destinations for growth, though there is concern about its development.
He also emphasized the need for small businesses to band together to become larger, develop joint collections, and gain access to larger brands.
